A Rose is a Rose
The mornings are cooler and fall is beginning to settle in for its long winter nap.
The foliage and the fall colours of the various plants are a wonder this year. They are beautiful. I am just discovering that there IS so much colour in fall amongst the flowers and shrubs.
I love the rogusa roses for the simple fact that they are pretty and they will keep budding and blooming until the Mr. Frost takes them for winter.

My Monday is moving right along. It seems the morning is long gone with the afternoon upon me already. The routines are simple: errands and house. But it is beginning to feel like a sit down to read a good book kind of day. While the temptation is present, various duties are beckoning to me.
How do you spend your Mondays?

Babies, Bottles and Bibs
I went to a baby shower today for my cousin's daughter-in-law. She's due in October and is having a girl. We numbered about thirty.
I realize that baby showers as well as bridal showers are few and far between these days. I realized, too, that they can be so much fun. We played no less than six games and had lots of food to eat throughout the two hour event.
We also had the time to chat with people we see only at these events. It's always so nice to see the great aunts who come out along with the numerous other relatives.
The baby clothes brought back memories of my own newborn. You could hear the aw's as they were shown. What sweet memories surfaced.
I remember holding my baby and snuggling with her. I remember rocking her gently and singing to her in my best flat sounding voice. I remember smelling her. Oh, what sweet memories.
She and I spent a great deal of time together in those first years. They were sweet and endearing and wonderful. I am so happy I had the chance to be a mom to her.

A Fine Autumn-esque Day
It`s been a relaxing day. It`s beautiful. It`s cooler to sit outside now. It`s great to be around home.
This first picture was taken yesterday. I just didn`t get it on the computer to input for the blog. I love the fall colours.

Do you see the centurion on duty in the next picture? He's guarding the Eagle Condo.
Can't beat the beautiful weather we're having today. The view is priceless.
What joys did you discover on your ordinary day?

Every Day is Laundry Day
I love it when things get done. I love cleaning and seeing how it looks afterwards. I love the way my fridge looks after I've washed and cleaned and organized it inside. I love my cutlery drawer when it's neat and organized as it is right now.
I love it that any day can be laundry day. I did some cleaning in the rooms and it felt great. I loved seeing the result of my labour. It gives me a wonderful sense of achievement even if it last just for the day.
There's always tomorrow to do it again. :D
It was such a beautiful day at 7:30 this morning, I dedided to wash clothes which I put on the line. I love the feel and the smell of wind blown clothes and linens.

An Ordinary Day in the Lives of Ordinary People
Part of my heart is missing my daughter. She goes to school now and I am feeling that this day is a long one and it's only 12 noon. The CBC News is coming on the radio.
I took two hours to do some gardening and then to walk around the farm to capture the living of ordinary people and their surroundings.
The reason I took my camera was because there were three eagles that I spotted flying overhead as I stood looking at my little garden patch. That begin the hour's odyssey.
Mom and baby enjoy a drink.
A typical sign in farm country.

The eagles took up some of my time. I believe they have very good hearing. It was like they knew I was clicking the camera, and then off they flew.
The resident kitty enjoys a break with grooming in mind.
The first red leaves of the season don our back yard.
Life is pretty steady and even keel and busy.
The heifers enjoy a quiet day looking at the visitor.
The machinery is ready to work.
Mama-to-be enjoys the outdoors.
And, who might you be? Leaving the milking parlour.
Mom and baby enjoy a drink.
Youth at its best in the nursery.
Need any feed for horses? cattle?
From our mountain, or rather, hill.

Fall Is Coming
Fall is coming and so is a lot of other things. I love this time of the year. It begins to cool off a bit. The leaves begin to change colour. Students are back in school, community colleges and universities.
I am feeling very domesticated. I am doing housework and taking care of my 6 year old. And as you can see by the picture, I have an important project in the works that must be ready by 31 October.

My daughter knows what she wants to be this Halloween. She wants to be a princess in a blue dress and she loved her tiara.
What are your fall projects?

What Another Nice Day
It's been a beautiful day from start to finish. It's cooler averaging in the late teens for temperatures.
We started our day by going to church. J. gets one on one with an adult volunteer. There is one other youth who goes regularly.
I read in church this morning. It was Deuteronomy 26:15-19; 34:1-12. It was about Moses and the promise land where he got to see it before he died but was not allowed to enter it.
Coffee afterwards was wonderful. I just can't beat the Just Us brew anytime anywhere.
J. had a great session as usual.
Then Grampy and a friend came and took us to the Golden Arches for lunch. J.'s favourite place. She got the serpent from Kung Fu Panda 2. You wind it up and watch it spin round and round.
I've spent the rest of my afternoon here at the monitor. I am not convinced it's the best thing to be doing on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon.
I am rejoicing because little Kienan Hebert has been returned safe and sound to his family. I hear the Hallelujah chorus ringing out. Hallelujah!!! While this part of the ordeal is over, it's just beginning for the other party involved. I hope help can get to him before it is too late.
Here's my picture for the day.

Do you know how difficult it is to keep it to one picture. I love the late summer/early fall colours of the shrubs and flowers. I love the fact that I have Black eyed Susies still blooming in my garden.
The second picture is of an old truck put out back behind the barns years and years ago. My husband and his brothers used to play in it. Now the trees have literally grown up around it.
What history in that old truck.
How was your day and what good things were in it?

I Wonder ...
I wonder if I could actually take at least one picture a day and include it in my blog. Here goes.
It's beautiful and sunny and breezy.
We took a drive to town and walked the full length of Front Street to get to the Farmer's Market and then the library. It was enjoyable. The Just Us cuppa was wonderful. The library was peaceful and insightful.
Then I had the bright idea en route to home that we could take a ride on the Scout to see the beautiful view from behind our house. My daughter actually liked it once she got used to it.

I laughed when we got to the top because the corn hid our view. But part way down the hill, we got her back, sort of.
What a trip that little Scout was! I could drive her everyday. It was enjoyable.
What a great way to spend a beautiful Saturday.
Now, soon I shall prepare my veggie Chinese dish. What are you having for a Saturday night supper?

Rainy Day Experiences
Whose to say that our days are dreary even when it's pouring out and it's wet and damp. Whose to say, I say????
I must add these pictures here to cheer you up if you need cheering up. Life is so full to overflowing.
From the moment my daughter left for school to right now, it's been a great day.
I found myself trying to get organized so I started looking for specific things that are on my `must find` list. I found one of three things I've been looking for and in the process my storage cupboard got tidied up and organized.
I ironed the material I'm using for my daughter's Halloween costume. I even sorted out the pieces of the pattern I need. I realize though that the pattern is way too big for my little sweet pea. She wants to be a princess in a blue gown so I have this bright idea that I'll make it. She's going to be the sweetest Cinderella ever. And, can you guess what I'll be??? We go as a package you know.
I tidied up the computer room a little as a way to look for thing #2 that I just can't lay my hand on. The room looks better but no thing #2.
As I went to go to town, I noticed several eagles flying between our house and the barns. I parked, ran and got my camera and tried to get great pictures of the eagles... they are elusive. I even followed them to the other field. They knew they were being followed.
Before I left the field I noticed the beautiful sunflowers, and I couldn`t resist a few pictures.
I then ran my errand to the local Save Easy with wet feet and muddy pants. I crossed cultivated rows to get to these beautiful flowers.
I came home with several items while fully intending to get only one. How typical is that, I wonder.
Isn`t life grand!!!
In what ways was your life grand today?

Post Irene
Here it is the day after tropical storm Irene. While it caused devastation beyond our Canadian borders, it was fairly gentled by the time it reached us. Our power did go off at 1:30 am and didn't return until about 10:30 am.
When she came back on, I sprang into action - and this is without any caffeine - I changed our bed and promptly started to do laundry which is hanging on the line taking in the breeze (leftovers from Irene) and the beautiful sun.
I also baked up 10 lb of bananas and have 4 dozen banana muffins and 2 loaves to show for it. I am thrilled at the energy I have had today.
Here's the final product of the banana:
P.P.S. I wanted to include these last three pictures of my day's activities.

I can't wait to put my last load on the line. It includes the sheets and pillow cases. The wind is really refreshing and it's a great day for a laundry outside.
And how did you spend your Monday?
P.S. In nine days, my little one begins school for the first time. I believe she and I are both looking forward to it.
The banana loaves are wrapped and bagged and ready for freezing.
P.P.S. I wanted to include these last three pictures of my day's activities.
I used fresh blueberries for the crumble. I love the results. It will taste good with ice cream. In addition, I cooked a great made-from-scratch stir fry.
Well, after a small ice cap from Tims, I came home and put the last load on the line where they are blowing and drying in record time.

Happy Birthday
I didn't know that going to two birthday parties back to back could be so much fun and even quite relaxing. J. and I went to a neighbour's 5th birthday party. It was fun with the bouncy castle, water pistols, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk. The food was a feast for the dozen or so gathered, and a choice of either chocolate or vanilla cake. WOW!!!
The birthday celebration was for J.'s grandmother. Her birthday was celebrated with a family barbeque at the farm. That, too, was relaxing and enjoyable. The youth had so many stories to tell along with some of us ole ones.
The day was a great day, and it was also our 12th anniversary. So, Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to all of you out there who celebrated in some way.
That's how we spent our day. How did u spend yours?

How Good It Is
I just came back from my niece's vegetable stand. It took about three minutes to shop for carrots, potatoes, onions and corn.
The veggies are no spray and grown organically. They look good and do they ever smell good. For the money I paid I believe I got my dollar's worth. We'll get a few good meals out this bunch.

The Lazy Day(s) of Summer
What a lazy weekend this is turning out to be. We visited E's roadside vegetable stand. She is selling potatoes and carrots right now. They are No spray and as a result organic. It's worth the trip.
Husband finished picking up the silage.
Now he waits patiently outside for heated leftovers.
I thank gawd herself for leftovers.
It's warm and beautiful and my banana squares which I had in the oven at midnight last night are divine... wings and halo and all. Simply delicious.
I must go check on the food. TTYL.
